The tomb of politician Vilmos Tóth
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
He came from a modest family of commoners from Nitraivánka, ennobled in 1634. His father, Károly Tóth (1793), was a landowner who donated land in 1828 for the construction of a new school in Nitraivánka, and his mother, Anna Kossovich (1807). ; He completed his schooling in Arad, Timișoara and Oradea, then went to Bratislava to take a law course. He graduated in 1848 and became the sub-notary of the Nitra County. The political situation following 1848 forced him out of public affairs. In 1860, he was the chief notary of Nitra County, and in 1861, as the central representative of Nitra County, he participated in the parliament, where he joined the Felirati party. Between 1861 and 1879, he represented the same district in six parliaments (except one). He was the clerk of the 1865 parliament and one of the strongest supporters and advocates of Deák's policies, and later a member of the Liberal Party. In 1867 he became a ministerial councilor in the Ministry of the Interior, and then a state secretary between 1869 and 1871. On 15 February 1871 he was appointed Minister of the Interior, a position he held until 15 March 1873. At that time he returned to his estate in Nitraivánka and was given the dignity of a true internal privy councilor. In October 1879 he was appointed president of the Vienna Joint State Audit Office and held this office until his retirement in 1895. At that time he was a member of the House of Lords, and on 22 November 1896 he became its president. He is buried in Nitraivánka. In the summer of 2021, rather poor repair work was carried out on the tomb vault. ; His son Vilmos Sándor (1851-1891) was a butler and ambassador at the Serbian royal court, and the male line of the family probably became extinct with him. His daughters Zsuzsanna became the wife of Vilmos Thuróczy, the lord of Nyitra, and Erzsébet became the wife of Károly Thuróczy, the chief physician of Nyitra County. ; ; His memory and awards: ; Grand Cross of the Order of Leopold ; Order of the Red Eagle, 1st class, from the German Emperor ; In 1897, the main street of Nyitra was named after him ; ; Works ; 1861 Speech.
