Cemetery cross
In the central location of the Cicsó cemetery, the large cross, on which the crucifix of Jesus Christ stands, stands clearly visible. This cross is not just a monument made of stone and metal, but a symbol of the faith, past and unity of the local community.
The large cross was erected not far from the entrance to the cemetery, in a central location, to serve as a guide and reminder for all visitors: here we encounter the finitude of life, but at the same time the hope of resurrection. The crucifix on it recalls the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus, which, according to Christian faith, is the pledge of humanity's salvation.
For the locals, the large cross is the heart of the cemetery. Many funeral processions pass by it, and it is often here that the last prayer is said before the coffin is escorted to its final resting place. It is decorated several times throughout the year, especially on All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, when hundreds of candles and flowers are lit around it, illuminating the cross and the silence of the cemetery.
The Ciccio Great Cross is one of the most important symbols of local tradition and religiosity, preserving the faith and memories of the villagers for generations. It is not only a witness to the past, but also a message for future generations: the power of love, faith and community are timeless values.
