Cemetery cross

Sacral small monument

The cemetery cross is made of polychrome sandstone and is decorated on a baroque pedestal, with a corpus, an INRI plaque, and a figure of Mary standing at the base of the cross. József Liszka, during his 2001 data collection, established that the original inscription was painted and plastered over during the renovation. In this case, we must quote József Chalupeczky's note: HERE RUINS Ns. NzTES VITÉZLŐ KIRÁLYI GYÖRGYUR MEGHELT 3DIK IAN. EVBAN 1820 ALETINEK 70DIK. SZTENDEBIBEN; This inscription is still alive in my memory, it was painted with black oil paint. The informant believes that a man from Ógyalla painted it over several times, but it was regularly damaged (Józsefné Chalupeczky Hulkó Anna, born 1923). At the time of the 2005 data collection, a granite tablet was attached to the pedestal with the following inscription: HERE LYES NS. NZ. - TES VITÉZ KIRÁLYI ÚR GYÖRGY ÚR MEGHALT JAN. 3, 1820 IN HIS 70TH YEAR OF LIFE. This was made by a local stonemason, and then the object itself was presumably renovated by a sculptor from Privigye together with the nearby statue of Our Lady of Sorrows. ; Behind the large cross in the cemetery, (Deaf) Kádek László wanted to be buried in 1985 (?). Back then, behind the large circle, you know, there was a whole hill. There were even trees growing there. They cut them down (elder trees, acacia trees), the earth was removed to dig out the grave, but a crypt was found. They could have known this from the inscription on the pedestal of the large cross in the cemetery. The crypt was not opened, the excavated grave was reburied, and the deceased was buried not far from the object (Anna Hulkó József Chalupeczky, born 1923). In 2005, when I was looking for the grave of a deceased friend of mine during a visit to the cemetery, a man there told me to pray at the large cross. Nowadays, on All Saints' Day, women sit on the bench near the object, but since it is not far from the Our Lady of Sorrows, they also pray at the Virgin Mary (Mária Bachorecz Lajos Dolník, born 1919). There were those who had confidence in the large cross and placed their pain there (...) The women preferred to go to the Virgin Mary (Piroska Scheffer István Feszty, born 1915).
