The XIV. International Vámbéry Conference was held between 6 and 8 October 2016, and the volume now completed contains edited versions of the lectures delivered. The publication of the studies was supported by the Government Office of the Slovak Republic and the Vámbéry Civic Association of Dunaszerdahely. Both the conference and the book compiled from its lectures are in fact the annual report of the participants and authors on those fields of Orientalism in the broadest sense that can be directly or indirectly connected to the name and work of Ármin Vámbéry.
