István Tamás (1865-1947) was born in Hanva. The baptism ceremony was performed by the priest and poet Mihály Tompa. In 1899 he married Julianna Bán from Tamási in Zádor. At that time he was already a teacher in Uzapanyit. He taught in Uzapanyit until his retirement. Between 1900 and 1910, the average number of Reformed students in compulsory education was 85 in the small village of more than 900 people (the average number of Catholic students was 60). István Tamás worked as a certified teacher.
