Taksonyi Country House

Country house, craft house

The country house was built by Mrs. Ferenc Panyik, and according to the family tree, six generations lived in the house, mainly large families. The last resident left the building, which was then declared a monument, in 1982. The district national committee bought the house and, in accordance with the law, entrusted the museum with the care of the country house. ; The street-facing part of the whitewashed, gable-roofed, thatched building made of raw brick was declared a monument in 1963. At that time, the census of the country's monument buildings was completed. The country house was among the first to be included in the list of folk monuments. The back part of the house, which was expanded with farm premises in 1969, is not a monument today either. On the ornate gable of the country house, in addition to the date of construction and the name of the owner, there are hand-painted flower decorations. The floor plan of the country house is partly different from the architecture typical of the area, and a cellar and an attic open from the porch. In the first three rooms of the living area, an exhibition presenting folk interiors was arranged by the museum's ethnographer at the time, Mária Szanyi; the reconstruction of the building was supervised by György Pekarovič. The room with a plank floor facing the street has urban furnishings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The hand-painted motifs on the ceiling indicate that the room was built as a clean room. ; In Taksonyi, too, the composition of the population was greatly affected by the displacement and population exchange. The families here were replaced mainly by families from Tótkomlós in the southern Great Plain, who brought their household items and furniture with them. The furnishings of the back room commemorate the families from the Great Plain.
