Chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary

Building, structure

The Baroque-Classicist Chapel of the Virgin Mary of the Calvary, located on the outskirts of the village and closed to the public, was built in 1762 on the site of an old hermitage. Hermits have lived in the Perbete forest since the 17th century. The residents of Perbete built the chapel after the death of the last hermit, Pál Sebők. The earthquake of 1763 spared the chapel, which was considered a miracle. At that time, György Ordódy donated the altarpiece depicting the Virgin Mary to the chapel. The chapel was rebuilt in 1909. The 14 field altars of the Calvary were erected in 1925 by the widow Albertné Ladányi, and the high cross was erected in 1902. The farewell is held on September 12, the name day of the Virgin Mary.
