Coronation Column of the Virgin Mary
Sacral small monument
In the square in front of the Catholic parish church in Róka, there is the Holy Trinity, combined with the coronation of Mary, standing on top of a square column that tapers upwards from a square pedestal. At the four corners of the square pedestal are statues of saints: Saint John of Nepomuk, Saint Sebastian, Saint Roch (?) and Saint Florian. On top of the square pillar that tapers upwards, a square platform shows the kneeling figure of the Virgin Mary with her hands clasped above her chest, and God the Father, sitting to her right, and God the Son, visible on the left, holding a gilded crown above her head. The Holy Spirit, seen in the form of a gilded dove in the middle of the gilded wreath above them, is made of metal. ; The gilded inscription on the pedestal reads in Hungarian: "Elevated by the pious population to the Virgin, patroness of Sancta Maria". In this case, it is completely clear that the sculptural composition is primarily dominated by the coronation scene of Mary, with representatives of the Holy Trinity as supporting characters. ; The chronosticon on the pedestal reads: 1185, which is of course absurd. However, among the highlighted Roman numerals there is also a similarly highlighted letter P, which cannot be interpreted as a Roman numeral, which, based on the style of the statue and, since according to local tradition, the statue was erected at about the same time as the parish church in Somorja, should correspond to 600 (kind verbal communication from László Végh). The completion of the church itself can be dated to 1778 (Horváth 2005, 21), the closest date to this is 1785, which can be read from the chronosticon. ; The object is surrounded by a wrought-iron fence. ; Local names: Coronation of Mary, Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Mary's Entry into Heaven
