Antal Szörcsey was born in Gömörpanyi (Gömör county) on March 26, 1811. He was the son of Ferenc Szörcsey, a royal hussar captain (he came from Marosvásárhely to Gömör county) and Erzsébet Palugyay. Hungarian, Roman Catholic. He studied law. 1842 - a servant judge in Gömör county. Unmarried. ; from September 1848, he was a lieutenant in the Gömör county volunteer national guard battalion, and participated in the battles against Jellačić. Oct. 10 (1.) - lieutenant in the 19th national guard battalion organized in Levoča. From December, he served in the Upper Tisza Corps with his unit, Jan. 23 (1.) 1849 - first lieutenant ibid. (in the I Corps). Jun. 1 (May 16) - captain in the 100th battalion organized in Léva. (This unit served in General Mór Perczel's Central Tisza Army from mid-July.) ; In the 1850s he farmed in Gömörpanyit. In 1867 he was a member and vice-president of the Gömör County Honvédegylet. He died at the age of 56 in Rozsnyó on Dec. 23, 1867.
