The tomb of scout commander Aladár Szilassy in Losonc

The scion of the Szilassy family from Silesia and Pilis, who played a public role in the public life of the city of Losonc and Nógrád county, but also in national affairs, Dr. Aladár Szilassy, Jr., studied medicine. During his study trip to England, he became acquainted with Scouting (Scouting for Boys) and decided to introduce this movement, which serves the spiritual and physical development of young people, to Hungary. In 1910, together with Rev. Béla Megyercsy, he formed the first Hungarian scout troop, the 1st troop of the Budapest Reformed Christian Youth Association, of which Szilassy became the commander. After his early death, he was buried in the family cemetery in the Reformed cemetery in Losonc. His white marble sarcophagus-shaped tombstone was first honored with wreaths in 1994 by the re-formed scout troops. ; ; It is a destination for local commemorations, visits by scout groups, and excursions to learn about Hungarian history.
