In 2015, the renovation of the village center included the creation of a soda siphon-shaped fountain. ; With this, the people of Szimő pay tribute to the famous native of the village, István Jedlik Ányos, a monk and inventor. The inventor of soda water production is considered by all Hungarians to be among the greats, and his memory is also worthily preserved in his native village. “We are trying to make our village more livable and homely and to cherish Jedlik’s legacy. I am confident that the renovated center will increase the residents’ sense of comfort,” said Mayor János Bób at the opening ceremony.
