Holy Trinity statue in Vágsellye
Sacral small monument
On July 4, 1886, during the litany, a ball of lightning struck the Catholic church in Vágsellye. In memory of the escape from the elemental blow, the survivors and the city erected a Holy Trinity Column, which was completed in 1895. ; In 1974, when the statue was damaged due to a road accident, it was temporarily moved to the churchyard. The ruined statue was rebuilt in 1992, the 900th anniversary of the first mention of the city, and then in 2010 (after further restoration and resculpting of some of the statues) it was returned to its original place. ; On the pedestal stand the statues of the Immaculate Mary, Saint Margaret of Antioch (the patron saint of the church), Saint Stephen, Saint Imre and Saint Elizabeth. ; According to one news report, the statue was "allegedly made by members of the old Rumpelmayer stonemason family in Bratislava."
