Nagykálna is a large village located 9 km from Léva in the direction of Verebély. It lies on the right bank of the Garam River, and the first written document about the village dates back to 1209. According to contemporary records, it once belonged to the Garambenedek Abbey. Its Baroque church was built in 1733.
