St. Michael's Bridge

The arch in front of the tower belonged to the former drawbridge. The dark pedestrian crossing on this street was once jokingly called Csók Street. ; On the part facing the city, there was a picture of St. Ladislaus on horseback, which has now disappeared. On the part facing the market square, the old inscription: Omne Regnum in se ip sum divisum de solabitur 1723. is still there today. On the bridge leading over the moat, which is still standing, are the statues of St. Michael and St. John of Nepomuk, most recently restored (in 1897) by the Bratislava Aesthetics Association. From this bridge, a picturesque view of the old moat and the groups of houses built along it is presented to the eye. ; In this moat was the old shooting range, which is why this part of the moat was called the shooting range. This shooting range served as a place for Sunday fun and target practice. It is marked by a target plate on a copper engraving from 1608. Dramatic performances were held in these trenches from 1750 to 1780.
