St. Mark's Chapel, image column

Sacral small monument

"Among the other small sacral monuments of the village is the St. Mark's iconostasis, which is called a chapel here. The iconostasis, open on three sides, recently housed a seated black wooden statue of St. Mark, which is no longer in its original place. A printed, colored image was placed in its place. In the past, on St. Mark's Day, the faithful would come here in procession. The parish priest would bless the border and the grain here. Since the chapel is located near the cemetery, in the past, when the dead were still followed from the houses, the funeral procession would stop here with the coffin, and a libation would be offered for the soul of the deceased. The iconostasis was also visited on the days of the Cross. On the first day, devotions were performed here."
