The life-size statue of our King St. Stephen was erected by the Immortal Civic Association in front of the VMK building in Somorja in 2000. Since its inauguration, a wreath-laying ceremony has been held every year on August 20 in front of the monument to commemorate the founding of the state. ; The statue has been damaged in recent years, and the civic association commissioned sculptor Gyula Mag to restore the statue. On August 20, 2014, the new statue was unveiled, consecrated, and a ceremonial commemoration with the wreath-laying took place as part of the St. Stephen Days. ; The statue of St. Stephen is located in front of the City Cultural Center, so the city representatives accepted the proposal to name the area in front of the cultural center Szent István tér.
