St. Imre Parish Church
Building, structure
The Baroque church built in 1701 was built by Count Imre Esterházy (1663-1745), Archbishop of Esztergom, in honor of Prince Saint Imre of the Árpád household. The church was built in the late Baroque style. Originally, it had only one nave and a low tower. The main altar was in the sanctuary, with an oil painting of the patron saint of the church, Saint Imre. The nave of the church contained the pulpit and the side altars of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Heart of Jesus. The church had a choir with an organ built of six versions in stone. It belonged to the Víziváros parish of Esztergom. Its first administrator was János Hidassy, who was the parish priest of Muzsla from 1699 to 1703. ; Archbishop Primate János Simor widened and renovated the church. It was expanded with two side aisles, and the two side altars were also moved to these. This is evidenced by the Latin inscription above the main entrance: JOANNES CARDINALIS SIMOR AMPLIAVIT ET RESTAURAVIT AD 1878. ; During the service of János Orosch, administrator and dean of Párkány between 1993-1999, and parish priest between 1999-2004, the church was completely renovated, including the organ, and the church's main altarpiece depicting Saint Imre was also restored.
