&nbsp,The two-towered Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint George was built in 1754 by the Andrássy family in the Baroque style. In 1895, it was rebuilt in a historicist style at the expense of Count Dénes Andrássy. In the church atrium, on the wall, there is a memorial plaque to the heroes who fell in World War I.
&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, The shrine of the Buzgó-forrás on the edge of the village originated from the fact that three little girls from the village were picking flowers here once and one of them saw the Virgin Mary floating among the trees. Pilgrimages began after the vision, and the miraculous power of the water was proven by several miraculous healings.
&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, In the southeastern part of the village, at the northern foot of the Silicei Plateau, lies the Hosszúrét Buzgó Cave, discovered in 1964, in which a 32.6 m high standing stalactite can be found. This giant stalagmite was registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest stalactite in the world.
&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, In the Church Garden, a headstone and a carved cross commemorate the graves of 130 Hungarian soldiers who fell in the fighting in the village during World War II. The headstone and cross are the work of local woodcarver István Ulman and his associates. Every year on the last Saturday of July, at 1 p.m., the monument is laid with a wreath by locals and guests from different parts of the Carpathian Basin in a high-quality program. (The remains of 41 German soldiers, also buried in the Church Garden, were exhumed and transported by the German Ministry of Defense after the change of regime.)
&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, The Gyöngyvirág choir, which operates next to Csemadok, has performed many times at various events and village days with great success.
&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, The Gömöri Craftsmen Association organizes the Gömöri Craftsmen Camp in the village every year.
&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, In 2008, the first, in 2010 the second, and on June 16, 2012, the third Várhosszúrét Shepherds' Meeting was organized by the Gömöri Craftsmen in the village. More than 20,000 people were interested in the latter.
&nbsp,&nbsp,&nbsp, On September 23, 2017, a new, three-part, carved monument was erected in the churchyard in memory of the soldiers who rest there.
