St. Elizabeth's Game
Song
The collector, Ágnes Sallai, writes about the following song: ; “The following game song was sung similarly in Almágy and Hidegkút. (There is a slight difference in the lyrics: “Queen Elizabeth” instead of “Beautiful Elizabeth”.) However, the game itself was played differently. In Almágy, the girls stood in a circle holding hands, one walked outside the circle and the answer – “I am coming here, I am coming here” – was sung by only her. Whoever she stopped next to took with her. In Hidegkút, the song was used as a game starter. A little girl walked in front of the others who were sitting. Whoever she stopped in front of took with her. They played until everyone had been taken. Then they formed a circle and started another game.” ; ; Where are you going, where are you going, beautiful Mrs. Elizabeth? ; Here I go, here I go, looking for beautiful girls, ; Beautiful, good, worthy ones, ; Come, my sweet little angel, sit on my carriage! ; ;
