Cemeteries, tombstones, graves

Dr. József Szaiff was a Budapest physician who fought in the defense of Lipótvár during the Hungarian Revolution and War of Independence of 1848/49. After its surrender, he was captured by the imperialists and imprisoned (Königgrätz), from where he was released after the suppression of the War of Independence. At that time, he was assigned to Nagymegyer as a district physician. After the compromise, he became involved in public life as a local representative. He died in 1884. His previously neglected grave was renovated by the Nagymegyer Organization of Csemadok on October 6, 1999, with the support of the Hungarian Ministry of National Cultural Heritage. Since 1999, the Nagymegyer Organization of Csemadok has been organizing the city wreath-laying ceremony in memory of the martyrs of Arad on October 6. ; ; &nbsp,
