Gyula Szabó (1907 Budapest – 1972, Prague). The painter, graphic artist and poet from the Highlands, who left behind a significant oeuvre, lived and created in Losonc. In addition to his major exhibitions in Bratislava and Budapest, his works were admired by interested parties in many places. Most of his works can be seen today in the Szabó Gyula Memorial House in Losonc, and in the Nógrád Museum and Gallery. His tombstone consists of two parts: a standing, roughly worked gray granite block, with the name and years on a marble tablet, and an enlarged copy of a woodcut by Szabó on black marble slabs below it. ; ; Every June, on the anniversary of the artist's death, a wreath is laid on the grave.
