Gyula Szabó (1907 Budapest – 1972, Prague). The painter, graphic artist and poet from the Upper Hungary who left behind a significant oeuvre lived and created in Losonc. In addition to his major exhibitions in Bratislava and Budapest, his works have been admired by interested parties in many places. Since his death, his widow Sz. Haltenberger Kinga has been taking care of his oeuvre. In 2008, Gyula Szabó’s former apartment and studio were made accessible to the public as a memorial house. Permanent and temporary exhibitions present the extremely rich collection of Gyula Szabó’s works every year, while the memorial house also occasionally provides space for other artists. ; ; Related events: Since 2008, the ceremonial opening of a new Szabó exhibition has been held annually, the opening of temporary exhibitions several times a year, and the implementation of cultural events of various genres.
