SOLCZ (SCHOLTZ) JÓZSEF ; Soltz József was born in Levoca on April 6, 1813, the son of András Solcz, a master craftsman, a wealthy citizen, and Zsófia Mautschin. German (zipper), non-noble, Lutheran. Graduated from high school. Resigned lieutenant (1831-1845. served in the 10th Infantry Regiment, was demobilized for political reasons). Unmarried. (His wife 1867 - Szépréthy Hermina, died Levoca, 1912.) ; Dec. 9, 1848 (1.)v- captain in the 50th Hunyadi Home Guard Battalion in the Drava Corps. (He probably served in the predecessor of the unit, the Hunyadi Group, and participated in the battles against the Croats.) On Dec. 30, he was taken prisoner in the Battle of Mór. He is dismissed at the end of the War of Independence. ; Emigrates to the United States of America, where he works as an accountant. Returns home in 1856. 1867. - Elected captain of the city of Levoča, member of the Szepes County Home Guard. 1869 - Captain in the Royal Hungarian Home Guard. Died in Levoča on October 23, 1873.
