Gyula Simon's memorial plaque

Statue, monument, memorial plaque

Gyula Simon and his wife were teachers in the Izsap settlement between 1939 and 1945. After 1945, he courageously stood up for the rights of the Hungarians in Izsap, protesting against persecution, reslovakization and deportation to the Czech Republic. His punishment was that he was included on the list of families deported to Hungary along with five of his family members. As a result, he eventually voluntarily left Czechoslovakia and settled in Győr-Sopron County. In his memory, the Izsap IQUS Civic Association placed a plaque on the outer wall of the Izsap school on April 12, 2014.
