The tombstone of János Simkó, a certified mechanical engineer and plant manager of the city's gas and water works, can be seen in sector III/4 of the cemetery. ; Under János Simkó's leadership, Bratislava's "city lighting is completely modern: gas (with Auer burners) and electricity. The city costs 60,000 crowns annually to light its streets, squares, theaters, etc. Gas lighting has been in the city since March 19, 1856. The city now manages it in-house. On January 1, 1891, it acquired the gas factory from the Oesterr. Gasbeleuchtungs-Gesellschaft for 900,000 crowns. The factory is located at 30 Esterházy Square (Námestie slobody) and has just been expanded. (It is worth noting that in 1713, when the plague was raging in Bratislava, there was a cemetery on the site of the gas factory, where 3,860 dead were buried.) The length of the gas pipes is 53 kilometers, the number of flames and 19464, of which 934 are street lights. Electric lighting has been in regular operation since January 1, 1902. The electric power plant, which cost one million crowns to install, is located in Nádor Street (Čulenova Street). The daily consumption is 3500 hectometers, which is increasing day by day. The length of the underground line is 57.7, the length of the above-ground line is 32.7 kilometers, and the number of lights is 9000. (By the way, regular street lights were first lit in Bratislava on January 1, 1767.) ; The water main was put into public use on February 6, 1886 and the city took it over on February 1, 1894. The installation of the water main is mandatory. The source of impeccable water is on the Danube Island, four kilometers from the city, and the water plant is in Károlyfalva. The annual consumption one million hectoliters, and the length of the network is 44 kilometers. The city costs 31,000 crowns to water the streets - including transportation costs - and 60,000 crowns to keep them clean.
