Sajógömör Lutheran Church Parish

"In 2017, the replacement of the windows and doors was inevitable, also in terms of the building's thermal management, the old windows were in very poor condition. Thanks to a tender, the Cappella Civic Association received a two million forint grant, from which we were able to implement this investment" - said Tibor Lóczy. ; The civic association renovated the parish building in 2017 - in part - thanks to the effective support of the Hungarian government. The Evangelical congregation has also been supported on several occasions by the Consulate General of Hungary in Košice. ; The goal of the civic association is not only to care for and renovate the parish, but one of its main objectives is to educate young people in the Christian faith, as well as to assist in the spiritual renewal of Sajógömör and neighboring settlements. They provide countless opportunities for church members at their meetings, organize various camps for children, but perhaps the most important is the mission day, when dozens of people from the Evangelical churches of the Highlands – and from churches in Hungary – arrive in Sajógömör. ; In Slovakia, the number of Hungarian-speaking Evangelical believers is about 8-10 thousand, who mostly live in a scattered manner from Bratislava to the eastern ends. Apart from the communities in Komárom and Dunaszerdahely, it is Gömör where we can still speak of a block church. The 25 Hungarian communities are served by two Hungarian pastors, and the Highlands mission has been expanded with a new pastoral worker in the person of Tibor Lóczy. He is the first person the Evangelical Church of Hungary has prepared for service across the border. ; ;
