Queen of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church

Building, structure

The faithful of Diósförgepatony, together with Father Ferenc Pati, turned to Bishop Domonkos Tóth in 1991 with a request that they would like to build a chapel. The bishop's response was that they should not build a chapel, but a church. The faithful welcomed this proposal with great joy. The construction committee was formed under the leadership of master builder Árpád Végh. The first donation was received into the treasury on November 13, 1991. At the suggestion of Father Ferenc, architects Marián Ravasz and Csaba Ambrus were asked to prepare the plans. The building permit was received on October 9, 1992, and construction work began immediately. With the exception of the main works, all work was done on their own, and as a result, the construction costs only amounted to 4.5 million crowns. This amount was collected from the support of the bishopric, donations from local believers, sister churches, the municipality, the local agricultural cooperative, German supporters, which are the Renovabis Eastern European aid organization, the Königstein aid organization and the Munich bishopric, the local Reformed congregation, the believers of the Budapest Saint Imre Church, the donations of the Budapest Illyés Public Foundation, as well as from the proceeds of charity programs and concerts and from larger donations of people who did not wish to be named. ; During the construction, the builders were spiritually supported by Fathers Ferenc Pati, János Lormusz and Péter Sepp. ; The construction was completed on October 18, 1998, when Bishop Father Domonkos Tóth consecrated the church, whose patron saint is the Queen of the Rosary. The relief depicting the patron saint in the church, the baptismal font, the statue of the Virgin Mary, and the statue of Jesus were made by the sculptor Oskár Košecký from Kisfalud. The 14 Stations of the Cross paintings were created by the painter Ottó Szabó from Bodrogszerdahely. The altar and the mass table, the chalice and a bronze candlestick were donated by the Jesuits from Berlin. A woodcarver from Gyetva, Pavol Melich, donated the crucifix erected next to the entrance to the church to the believers from Diósförgepatony.
