Alajos Rigele's reliefs at the Luther House

The Luther House was built in 1931 on the site of the old Lutheran hospital according to the plans of the Bratislava architects Christian Ludwig and Augustin Danielis. The high-quality modern building, which despite all its modernity fits into its surroundings built decades earlier, stands on Palisádyn, the former Védcölöp Street, and was home to the offices of the Lutheran Church and the apartments managed by the Lutherans. It has two entrances and a staircase, and its facade is divided into 2-1-5-1-2. Above the entrances, above the numbers 48 (left) and 46 (right), two reliefs depicting prominent figures from the very rich history of the church and especially the Lutherans of Bratislava were placed in pairs, in such a way that the middle portraits (unlike the others) are closely placed paired portraits. ; ; On the left, at number 48, from top to bottom: ; Martin Luther and Philip Melanchthon. ; Joshua Wegelin (1604-1640) and Anton Reiser (1628-1686). ; Matthias Bél (1684-1749) and John Ribiny(i) (1722-1788). ; ; On the right side, next to number 46, also from the top: ; Paul Gerhardt (1607-1676) and August Hermann Francke (1663-1727). ; John Vibeg (1637-1700) and John Weiszbeck (1638-1695). ; Ferenc Sámuel Stromszky (1792-1861) and Lajos Geduly (1815-1890). ; ; The works of the classical facade reliefs, belonging to the late stage of Alajos Rigele's creative career, were put in place when the house was built.
