Old or Kósa-Schopper hospital
Building, structure
The so-called old hospital in Rožňov was built with donations from Dr. Károly Kós' widow, Lujza Mihalovits, who had a will to found a hospital in Rožňov under the management of the Roman Catholic Church. During the operation of the hospital, Bishop György Schopper acquired a share of the property in the then temporary rooms and had a new building built for the hospital, which was opened in 1887. ; The old hospital is one of the largest historical public buildings in Rožňov. The symmetrically constructed main facade of the late classicist-style, two-wing, three-story, gable-roofed, tiled building has a neo-Gothic chapel in the middle. The triangular pediment above the pointed arched gate of the chapel, accentuated by a hussar tower, rhymes with the gables built above the side entrances of the wings of the building. The construction work of the hospital was carried out by the construction company of the architect Nándor Szilvássy from Rozsny. ; The hospital stood in the middle of a huge park established in 1937. The porter's cabin was added after World War II, and the newer building dates from the 1970s. The hospital area was surrounded by a valuable wrought-iron fence.
