Reformed Church in Nemesradnót

Building, structure

In 1423, it was the estate of the treasurer János Nagy of Pelsőczi, known as Radnotfalua. In the 17th century, its fashionable peasant families redeemed themselves and gained nobility. In the modern era, it was a noble settlement, which bore the name Nemesradnót from 1906. The people of the settlement were Calvinists from the end of the 16th century. Its church was built according to the plans of Mihály Kalla, an architect from Rimaszombat. The drawing of its earlier church is also known. ; The imposing church stands in the middle of an open space. The tower was built in front of the nave, and two sides are surrounded by a part slightly narrower than the nave. Its entrance is semicircular, its frames are framed, above it is an inscription in a protruding upper corner tympanum, above which is a semicircular window, then a row of arcades that runs around the wall of the church. The closing tympanum is bordered by a row of chevrons, with an inverted keyhole window in it. The niche extends to the two side parts, with an urn on top. The tower is two-storey, with a row of arcades on both sides, a round window at the bottom, and double windows above. There is a tower clock in the closing cornice. The helm is slender, onion-shaped, teardrop-shaped in the upper part, with a button and a rooster on top. The year 1895 is above the entrance. ; The nave is vaulted, with semicircular windows on both longitudinal walls. The vault is supported by decorative fluted columns with gold garland-decorated capitals. Columns with cut corners and articulated capitals at both ends carry the basket-shaped parapet gallery, which is divided by three horizontal rectangular fields. ; The pulpit is made of wood, painted brown, with gilded decoration, integrated with the aisle, with three gilded baroque leaves on its articulated front. The basket is pentagonal, articulated at the bottom, and bends in an arch to the closing tassel. Its sides are divided by pilasters with golden capitals, and its frames are made up of golden “S” elements lying in their lower part and standing in their upper part. There is an inscribed tablet on the back of the pulpit. Tassels hang from the hexagonal, articulated lower cornice of the crown, with a leaf and a row of conch shells above. On the upper part of the relief are the letters “N. S. F. P. CS” inlaid. On the top, there are leaves and a closing star between the “S” elements. ; The Moses Chair stands next to the pulpit. Its raised backrest bends forward like a canopy, with a toothed decoration on top. ; The ends of the benches are ornate, their flared legs have curved edges, and a small element hanging down on the front edge of the seat. In the middle is a four-petal flower in a square frame. On the upper part is a circle and a teardrop-shaped opening, behind it is a triangle with a lobed hypotenuse. ; On both sides of the pulpit are black World War II marble tablets, one with an ornate stucco frame, columns, urns, and laurel wreath ribbons, the other with a carved wooden frame.
