The inhabitants of Kisújfalu became Calvinists around 1650. In 1680, Kisújfalu operated as a mother church, its daughter church being the Mezőölved congregation belonging to the Komját diocese, together with Farnad. ; In 1785, Kisújfalu was appointed as the Bátorkesz daughter church of the county, and even provided for the funeral ceremony. In 1787, its Calvinist school was reopened, and the church was also rebuilt, as indicated by the year number still visible above the entrance. In 1786, the emperor authorized the construction of a tower for the Calvinist church, which also took place in Kisújfalu, with an addition to the already completed church.
