The poet Mihály Tompa was a Reformed pastor here between 1846 and 1849. Sándor Petőfi visited him here in 1847, from where they went on a trip together to Murány Castle. ; The memorial plaque was erected by the Palóc Club in 1994. ; In 2017, the Reformed Diocese of Gömör, with the support of the Hungarian government, allocated a significant amount for the complete exterior renovation of the tower and nave of the historic Reformed church in Beje.
