Reformed Church in Balogiványi (Balogvölgy)

Building, structure

It was first mentioned in 1245 as the property of the Hanva family. A few steps lead up to the church from the front. The tower is built in front of the nave, two-storey, the entrance has a pointed arch, above it a round window. The windows of the second floor are pointed arches. The tower cap is octagonal, pyramid-shaped, with a solution ending in a peak above the walls, which is framed by dentils, and below them is a clock. Wooden columns support the gallery at both ends of the nave, one of which has a decorative part protruding forward in the middle. The rising backrest of the Moses chair leans slightly forward. The pulpit is pentagonal, with columns at the corners, a frame-inlaid structure between them painted in gold. There is an inscription on the backrest. The pulpit crown is in two parts, above the decorative cornice at the bottom there are symmetrical, wavy-edged panels between "S"-shaped elements, turned decorations at the top, and a pelican spreading its wings at the top. On the wall opposite the pulpit is a World War I memorial plaque, next to which is an embroidered national flag with a coat of arms, a gift from the Balogvölgyi Rákóczi Association.
