Reformed Church

Building, structure

The Reformed church in the village was built before the middle of the 18th century, but was destroyed by the earthquake of 1763. Therefore, a new church was built in 1764, but the building quickly deteriorated, so in 1819 the third Reformed church was built in the classicist style. In 1840, a fire damaged the building, but it was soon repaired. The church was repaired many times later. It is an elongated building with a tower built in front of the gabled main facade. In the room with a straight ceiling, a Protestant wooden emporium can be seen on both sides. The facade of the church is decorated with wall frames and segment-finished windows. The wall frames are repeated on some floors of the tower, which originally had a low hipped roof, but in the 1960s it was replaced with a higher pyramid-shaped roof resting on a disk cornice. During the renovation of the church in 2008, the roof was restored to its original form. The pink marble foundation stone of the portal bears the initials D.O.M.U.S. E.H.O.N.A.E.K.K. and the year A. MDCCCXIX. The white marble altar was made in 1914 in Réthy's factory in Győr from donations from the believers of the Reformed Church. The old altar dates from 1793. The small granite baptismal font was made at the beginning of the 20th century, as were the pulpit and benches. The harmonium was made around 1925 by the Lídl s Velík company. There was originally an old 19th-century harmonium in the church. Two bronze bells hang in the tower. One was cast in 1843 by János Mendel's company in Győr, the other was donated to the church by the Fejérváry family in 1920 and made in 1850 by Károly Hofer's company in Győr. The original old bell, which dates back to the 18th century, cracked in the fire of 1840.
