Reformed church

Building, structure

Shrinking, torn, and torn in the storms of life, Kolozsnéma, one of the frontier strongholds of the Reformation, lives on uninterruptedly to this day, which was established as a mother church in the early 1530s. The Reformation of Kolozsnéma can be dated back to the early 1530s through the preaching of priest Bálint. He preached the Word of God on the estate of Bálint Török of Enyingi in Gönyű, and through him the doctrines of the Reformation took root in Kolozsnéma. There are two theories regarding the origin and creation of the Reformed church in Kolozsnéma. The church was either a Turkish mosque or a Catholic chapel. However, it is much more likely that the church is a “tower left intact from the castle of the Kolozfi family”, the construction of which falls in the era of Louis the Great, in 1375. After the destruction of the Kolosfi Castle, a church was built on its site, under which the Kolosfi family's tomb can still be found today. A Reformed priest named Kardoss also rests in the Kolosfi family's tomb. The semicircular part of the Reformed Church in Kolozsnéma, which still exists today, has served as a Reformed church since the establishment of the Reformed Church in Kolozsnéma. ; In 1773, during the preaching of János Hetényi, the faithful were troubled by the "deterioration" of the church buildings, for which they had long applied in vain to the authorities for repair. Finally, on January 30, 1776, they received permission to repair the rectory, but they were not allowed to expand the church. The church could only be expanded after the restoration of religious freedom. During the preaching of János Hetényi, the Catholics of the county, under the leadership of the Catholic parish priest Boldizsár Talabér, used force and authority to deprive the Néma Reformed Church of their bell. The Néma Reformed Church posted guards near the bell tower day and night, but violence prevailed. The bell was taken away. The Néma Reformed Church went to the county court in Győr to seek justice. The court forced Boldizsár Talabér to return the bell. Ferenc Borza served in Kolozsnéma from 1784 to 1794, and under his ministry the long-standing desire and aspiration of the people of Kolozsnéma to enlarge the church was fulfilled. During the time of Mihály Szendrey, in 1794, a wooden tower was built on the church, which had been enlarged the previous year, and a small portico was built next to the church. János Szilassy served in Kolozsnéma between 1798 and 1806. The parish renovated its church in 1819, and cut a window at the west end to make it brighter. In 1823, because there was not enough room for men in the church, a gallery was built in the west part. The light from the window cut at the end of the church was no longer sufficient, so a window on the south side of the church was added and two larger ones were made instead. ; Nt. Albert Kőváry was the last resident preacher of the mother parish of Kolozsnéma from April 27, 1837 to May 19, 1886. During his ministry, a huge fire on September 1, 1857 destroyed all the buildings of the church. The church, the rectory, the school, the communion vessels, and the two bells of the tower were burned. The congregation was devastated, but not destroyed by the disaster. The church was put in order on May 23, 1858. In 1928-1929, the Kolozsnéma congregation carried out major renovation work on the church. The parish trustees at that time were Kálmán Kiss, István Domonkos and József Kopócs, and the pastor was Rev. Géza Kúr. In 1922, new bells were cast to replace the bells taken during the First World War, and the interior of the church was also renovated at that time. In 1951-52, during the pastorship of Rev. László Mikes, the next interior renovation of the church took place. In 1976, the congregation's previous pastor, Rev. László Mikes, died. From then on, the following pastors served the congregation for about ten years: Rev. Károly Szabó, Rev. László Mikula, Nt. Páll Bertalan. From 1986 to 2000, Nt. Göőz Bertalan was the serving pastor of the congregation. Effective June 1, 2000, the Synodal Presidency assigned Nt. Lévai Attila as pastor to Csicsó and Kolozsnéma, who has been serving our Reformed congregation ever since. The current (2015) guardians of the Kolozsnéma daughter parish are Kálmán Balázs and Ferenc Süll, and the presbytery consists of 8 people. The parish completely renovated the exterior of its church between 2002-2004. The recent conservation works were carried out with the support of the Ministry of Human Resources.
