Reformed Church
Building, structure
The oldest monument of the city is the Reformed church built in 1785, which was inaugurated on December 4, 1785, during a ceremonial service. The construction of the church continued at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1801, the previously unauthorized tower was built under the direction of the carpenter Gábor Scéda from Érsekújvár, where two bells made in Győr were placed. At the beginning of the 20th century, the bells in Győr were replaced with bells cast in Nagyszombat. The tower clock, which was an extremely rare creation at that time, was completed on November 6, 1838, by the clockmaker Ferenc Moliloner from Komárom. The city of Nagymegyer measured the passage of time with it. The church of the Reformed Church was restored several times after its construction. Major restoration work took place in the 19th century, when the church pulpit was moved to a central position and a new choir was built. The last major restoration work was carried out in the mid-19th century. Among the sacred objects in its possession, two registered silver chalices should be highlighted. The first was made in 1786 by Reverend István Ács Literáti, and the second is from 1825. They were made for the congregation by: Mrs. Miklósné Kósa and Julianna Bartalos. On the wall of the church there is a memorial plaque to the distinguished preacher and Bible translator from Nagymegyer, György Besnyei from Nagymegyer. ; ;  ,
