Rákóczi House

Building, structure

"The house on the corner of Ventur and Szilágyi Dezső Streets, owned by the Blasy heirs, was originally one of the most magnificent houses in Bratislava, which is hardly conceivable given its current state of neglect. It was the Rákóczyak family's residential house, which also has a back door. Today it serves as an apartment building and houses the district's sick-aid fund. It was established on January 1, 1893, based on Article 14 of the 1891 Act. Its jurisdiction extends to the city of Bratislava, then to the Bratislava, Felső-Csallóköz, Alsó-Csallóköz and Malacka districts of Bratislava County, 22 large and 151 small villages. The number of members of the fund is constantly increasing, in the first year 9400, in 1903 12269, in 1904 already 13095. From 1 Nov. 1901, the central clinic of the fund also has an outpatient clinic, which is open from 9 am to 7 pm. In 1904, 10,499 patients visited the outpatient clinic. The fund has 6 doctors in Bratislava and 18 in the countryside, and the fund's rural affairs are handled by 30 trusted men - mostly district clerks. The fund's income from its foundation to 31 Dec. 1904 totaled 2,344,306 kor. 71 fillér."
