Memorial plaque of Lajos Pósa

Statue, monument, plaque

On July 1, 1934, the bust of Lajos Pósa, the creator of Hungarian children's literature, was unveiled in his native village, Nemesradnót. This was the first Hungarian statue unveiling in what was then Czechoslovakia. The then school principal, Lajos Bodon, initiated the collection for the Pósa statue in Nemesradnót. The Teacher, as the locals still call him today, took Lajos Pósa's cause to heart, and believed that the memorial plaque placed on the school wall in 1931 was not enough in Nemesradnót, so he erected a statue of the village poet.
