Bust of Alexander Petőfi
The bust of Sándor Petőfi in Komárom is one of the city's smaller but significant memorial sites, which pays tribute to the famous Hungarian poet, Sándor Petőfi. The bust is usually located in a public area, in a park environment, and depicts the poet in a classical style: with a youthful face, a determined gaze, as preserved in national memory. The purpose of the work is to remind us of Petőfi's role in Hungarian literature and his importance during the revolution and war of independence of 1848–49. The statue is not only a work of art, but also a cultural memorial site, where commemorations are held, especially on March 15, the national holiday.
