The grave of Antal Péch

In the Old Cemetery of Selmecbánya, near the Piargi Gate, in the protected grave number 293, lies the former mining engineer and writer, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Antal Péch. ; On his grayish-white tombstone, it is read: ; "ANTAL PÉCH / ministerial advisor, / retired mine director, etc. / Born 14 June 1822 / Died 18 September 1895 / The memory of your noble spirit, selfless / patriotism and honest / work / will live forever." ; On his grave, which is still a kind of pilgrimage site for Hungarian miners and metallurgists, there are often fresh flowers or wreaths. Because descendants come here from far away to remember "the greatest Hungarian miner", to bow their heads before the spirit of the distinguished scientist and excellent organizer.
