Priest Árpád Kovách was born on November 19, 1886 in Berhida into a notary family. He completed his secondary school and theological studies in Pápa. From 1909 to 1910 he was an assistant pastor in Galambok, and from 1912 he was a pastor at the Ilaván prison. In 1918 he was forced to leave his place of service. He moved to Vágfarkasd, to his wife's grandfather, where he served alongside pastor Antal Somogyi. From 1924 to 1942 he performed regular pastoral service in Vágfarkasd. He was the president of the local Keresztyén Youth Association and the Széchenyi Hungarian Cultural Association, and the vice-president of the management of the Bajtársi Szolgálat. ; On September 3, 1912, he married Margit Sebestyén (born July 19, 1889 in Kocs), the daughter of the Reformed pastor Dávid Sebestyén Kocs. He gave his soul back to his Creator on January 12, 1943. ; In her writing dated June 29, 1943, Margit Sebestyén remembers: “I was a very happy girl, and then from 1912 to 1943 I was a very, very happy woman with my blessed husband. We had two daughters, the eldest is Dr. Viktorné Petri, a veterinarian, and she has two small children. Our youngest daughter died at the age of 10 months, to our great sorrow. During his pastorate in Vágfarkasd, we lived in complete harmony and love with my dear husband’s followers. The people of Farkasd are intelligent, good people. We loved them very much. My husband of blessed memory did everything to fulfill his duties accurately and fulfill all the wishes of his followers, who, together with me, sincerely mourned and mourned their lost pastor. With fervent faith and true love, we organized the Reformed Girls’ Conference, the 150th anniversary of our church, and then the large-scale Reformed Days. We organized many evening shows with great success and great financial results, which made it possible to help our local children in need with clothes and shoes year after year. For many years we were able to spend thousands on charitable causes. We would have really, really liked to work together a lot more, hand in hand. But the almighty God decided differently. He called my unspeakably beloved, faithful, kind life partner, whom He sent to me to gild and make my life happy for 30 1/2 years, back to Himself.
