Master Paul's House

The Master Pál Museum is located in a small house in the Levoča Square. According to tradition, one of the most talented woodcarvers of the Middle Ages lived in this house built in the 15th century. A permanent exhibition was set up in the building to honor his life and work. ; Master Pál of Levoča (born 1465/1470-1480 – 1537-1542) was a woodcarver and sculptor (late Gothic). He is credited with making the wooden altar of the St. James Church in Levoča, which is the highest wooden altar in the world. He created in Levoča and the Spiš region, but his works can also be found in the Liptov, Sáros and Gömör regions.
