Károly Öllös was born in Apácaszakállas, Komárom County, on June 1, 1856, to simple, common-born farmers. He completed his elementary schooling in his native land, then his parents sent him to the Reformed College in Pápa, where he completed high school and theological courses. After completing his studies, he became an assistant pastor in Felső Gellér, and then was employed in Marcelháza. After a few months of service, in 1882, he was called up for actual military service again, where after his armed service, he was appointed as a reserve camp chaplain. In October 1882, he served again in Marczelháza, from there in 1883 in Perbete, and in 1885 in Révkomárom.
