Postcard from Ógyallai

Postcard

The postcard shows a detail of the Main Street with the District Court building, on the site of which the current post office building was built in 1961. "The District Court building was a single-storey building, facing the main street. (...) The court building was a simple structure, with a brick-based floor plan. Its main facade was divided into 10 axes with square window openings." Before 1911 "the wall surfaces of the building were smooth, the window openings were decorated with horizontal cornices. The new court building was completed in 1958 on Konkoly Street, which today houses the Secondary School of Architecture. The old building of the district court stood empty for a while, unused, together with the prison premises. Its memory is preserved only by the street next to the post office built in its place, which was named Bíróság Street." (Récka Bögi Adrianna, Hurbanovo. Ógyalla, Hurbanovo 2007, 120.)
