Memorial plaque of Sándor Ujlaki, a Calvinist pastor - dean
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
Rev. Sándor Ujlaki worked until his death to preserve the Hungarian identity of the Reformed congregation and village living on the language border. For this reason, he was deported both before the reunification (1938-1939) and after the reorganisation (1945-1946). In 1939, the Slovak authorities held him hostage, and after 1945 the new authorities imprisoned him and withdrew his salary and pension. Despite everything, he continued to serve until his death, despite his broken health.
