Statue of Saint John of Nepomuk
Sacral small monument
Saint John of Nepomuk is the martyr of the secret of confession, the patron saint of Bohemia. He is especially revered by water people, fishermen, sailors, water millers, miners, salt miners, and he also protects drowning people. He is also a privileged figure of Central European and Hungarian Baroque piety and folk religiosity (1340–1383). ; His statues were typically carved in the Baroque era, primarily from stone. They depict a bishop placing his finger to his mouth or holding a crucifix in his arms. He can most often be found on the waterfront, at ferry crossings, and next to smaller bridges.
