Statue group of Saint John of Nepomuk
Sacral small monument
In front of the southern wall of the St. Egyed parish church in Garamszentbenedek stands a charming, country-style Baroque sculpture group of St. John of Nepomuk. The stone-carved work, dating from the second half of the 18th century, has a large, common pedestal on both sides, with an angel depicted as a child, on a low pedestal. In the middle, on a larger, Baroque column, stands John himself. The unknown master sculptor depicted him with his usual iconography: he is dressed in priestly attire, in a stole, in a collar, with a biretta on his head, holding a cross in his arms, with a corpus on it. A characteristically curved, tin-plate cover can be seen above all three sculptures. The sculptures have partially colored surfaces.
