Saint John of Nepomuk is the patron saint of rivers, bridges, sailors, water millers, and fishermen. He is considered a martyr of the secret of confession. In some places, he is the patron saint of drowning people, miners, and salt miners. ; The statue standing in the parkland in front of the Illésházyak Castle in Máriatölgyes was made in 1773 in the Rococo style. The statue was erected on an artificially created hill. We can see three decorative pedestals, of which the figure of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on the higher central one, and an angel can be observed on the lower side ones. The year 1773 can also be discovered on the central pedestal.
