Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk in Rožňany
Sacral small monument
The medieval row of shops located next to the City Tower and the Students' Church was expanded with a small chapel in the north in the second half of the 18th century. The half-open, vaulted chapel facing north, decorated with pilasters on both sides, housed the life-size Rococo stone statue of St. John of Nepomuk, carved from stone. The saint standing on a small podium is depicted in the traditional way, in priestly ceremonial attire. He holds a palm branch and a cross in both hands. Above the statue's bowed head, a traditional metal halo can be seen, this time with only four stars. At the saint's feet, on the ledge of the pedestal, on both sides are statues of seated angels, the one on the left symbolizing the patron saint of the sacrament of confession with his finger on his mouth, and the one on the right is a plaster copy.
