Neolog synagogue
Building, structure
There were still three synagogues in Bratislava half a century ago. The oldest, Orthodox synagogue, was demolished in the early 1960s, and the Neolog synagogue in the late 1960s. Only the Neolog synagogue on Heyduk Street, built in the 1920s, has survived, and it is still in operation. The Jewish population of Bratislava, which was around 15,000 in 1930, has dwindled to 600 today due to the Holocaust and its consequences. ; "On the northern corner of Hal Square, partly on Szilágyi Dezső Street and partly on Vártelek Street, stands the beautiful and impressive synagogue of the neolog Jewish community, built in Moorish style and made of colorful bricks. It was built in 1894 on the site of part of the old Napudvar House, according to the plans of architect Dénes Milch, by Bratislava master builder Sándor Fiegler, at a cost of 180 thousand crowns."
